about
'To Be Free' tells the story of a young Syrian boy who needs to relearn what it’s like to be a child again, after living on the streets due to war. A real story, that Alaeddin Janid shared with me in a conversation last year. Alaeddin is the founder of Child Houses, who provide a home and safe space for homeless children in Northern Syria. All profits made by ‘To Be Free’ on Bandcamp will be donated to them.
lyrics
Once he was a boy
With no worries at all
But lately, he sees through eyes of another
Lately, he lost the child inside
Though there is wisdom in pain
And wisdom in loss
I want him, I want him to know
There’s no need to guard
And no need to fight
I want him, I want him to know
To know, know, know
Once he was a boy
But he had nowhere to go
It made him see through eyes of another
It made him lose the child inside
Though there is wisdom in pain
And wisdom in loss
I want him, I want him to know
There’s no need to guard
And no need to fight
I want him, I want him to know
To know, know, know
To know, know, know
To know, know, know
To know, know, know
How it feels to be free
